    INTRODUCTION

    The first compact crossover Volkswagen was presented to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007. The sonorous name Tiguan, formed from a combination of the words tiger (tiger) and iguana (iguana), was chosen as a result of a public vote that fueled interest in the model even before its appearance. Built on the Volkswagen Golf platform, the car received a very harmonious and attractive athletic appearance: a long hood line, straight A-pillars and wide wheel arches.

    Traditionally for a German manufacturer, the interior of the Tiguan is distinguished by its strict design, the quality of the materials used and assembly, as well as high level ergonomics. A comfortable steering wheel and clear instruments with bright blue backlighting, a climate control system control unit, an entertainment and navigation center with touch screen, as well as power window buttons and a remote control for electric mirrors, located on the continuation of the parabolic door handle - everything is aimed at making driving as comfortable and convenient as possible.
    The infotainment system combines the functions music center and navigation system. The active Touchscreen is used to control the system. Terrain maps and multimedia files are stored on a 30 gigabyte hard drive. There is a slot for SD memory cards through which you can download MP3 files. The innovative function of the navigation system is useful when driving in off-road conditions and in terrain for which there is no electronic cards. The device can store up to 500 intermediate waypoints along the route, so you can always find your way back. As additional equipment, you can order options such as a rear-view camera and the Park Assist system, which itself determines the place of possible parking and controls the rotation of the steering wheel.

    The rear seat has a 16 cm fore-and-aft adjustment and an angle-adjustable backrest to improve passenger comfort or increase usable luggage space. In addition, the rear seat can be folded in parts in a ratio of 40:60, and in some modifications a folding front passenger seat is standard equipment, making it easy to adapt the interior to carry long items.

    Tiguan is the first SUV in the world to be equipped with only turbocharged engines: 1.4L (150PS) and 2.0L (170PS and 200PS, depending on the from settings), as well as a 2.0-liter TDI turbodiesel (140 hp or 170 hp, depending on settings). All power units are equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and two-liter gasoline and diesel engines can also be equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions.

    Volkswagen Tiguan is available in three trim levels: Trend&Fun, Sport&Style, Truck&Field. The first two configurations differ from the third form of the front overhang. The road version of the car is designed for operation in a metropolis and has limited off-road capabilities, the maximum angle of entry is limited to 18 degrees, while the off-road version of the Track&Field can conquer slopes at an angle of up to 28 degrees. In addition, Track&Field has reliable protection engine crankcase and allows the driver to turn on a special Offroad mode with modified damper settings, electronic differential locks and special assistance modes when going downhill or, conversely, when starting uphill. Sport&Style, thanks to suspension and damper settings, is focused on sporty driving. Chrome grille cross bars, chrome roof rails and 17" wheel disks make the appearance more sporty.

    The car is equipped with a fourth-generation Haldex clutch in the rear wheel drive. The peculiarity of the settings is that at the start the clutch is always closed, and then it “dissolves”. In normal mode, 90% of the torque goes to the front wheels, but if they lose traction, all the traction can go to the rear. The EDS system simulates a differential lock. Offroad mode is activated at the push of a button, activating a range of auxiliary electronic systems. Hill Descent Assist automatically controls speed when driving downhill. The hill assist modifies the characteristics of the engine management system and prevents clutch wear. Changing the accelerator mode allows for more precise torque control, and the ABS system is also optimized for off-road driving. The chassis of the Tiguan is designed to successfully conquer roads with any surface.
    The basic equipment of the car includes front airbags, side airbags to protect the head and body, front belts with pretensioners and force limiters, a signaling device for unfastened front seat belts, and ISOFIX mounts on the rear side seats. After a series of crash tests, the European organization Euro NCAP awarded the Tiguan five stars for passenger protection and, based on the sum of the ratings, allowed the model to take a leading position in safety in the compact crossover class.
    Since October 2009, the Tiguan compact crossover has been produced at the Russian plant in Kaluga according to the full production cycle.

    In 2011, at the Geneva Motor Show, a show was held updated version Tiguan. In the appearance of the car, only the headlights have changed - they have a fashionable LED edging. Of the changes invisible at first glance - the emergence of various electronic systems, such as: tracking road markings Lane Assist, driver fatigue recognition, electronic imitation of XDS cross-axle differential lock. Some changes affected power units - by changing the electronic settings in existing engines, it was possible to increase power, environmental friendliness and efficiency. As before, the model is offered in both "road" and "off-road" versions, which differ in the shape of the front overhangs. In addition, now the Tiguan Plus with an extended wheelbase has become available to customers, the owners of which can choose between an additional row of seats and a larger luggage compartment.
    In the summer of 2011, the assembly of the updated Tiguan began at the production facilities of Kaluga.
    The Volkswagen Tiguan, which embodies the best qualities of golf-class models and SUVs, is the best choice for any motorist.
    This manual provides instructions for the operation and repair of all modifications of the Volkswagen Tiguan, produced since 2007, including updates in 2011.

    8. Replacing fuses

    Due to the fact that the car is constantly being improved and the purpose of the fuses is constantly changing, it is impossible to provide a reliable fuse specification in this manual. The location of the fuses can be obtained from a Volkswagen Dealership.
    One fuse can protect the circuits of several electrical consumers. And vice versa: one consumer can have several fuses.
    Replace fuses only after the cause of their blown has been eliminated. If the new fuse blows quickly again, have the related electrical equipment checked by a workshop.
    ATTENTION
    There is high voltage in the electrical system!
    Never touch the wires of the ignition system.
    Avoid short circuits in electrical equipment.
    Unsuitable fuses and wire inserts can cause a fire.
    New fuses must be rated for the same amperage as the blown fuses (color and marking must be identical).
    It is forbidden to replace fuses with pieces of wire, paper clips and other improvised means!
    The use of high amperage fuses may cause damage elsewhere in the electrical circuit.
    ATTENTION
    Protect exposed fuse boxes from dirt and moisture. Dirt and moisture in the fuse box can damage electrical equipment.

    Note
    There are other fuses in the car that are not mentioned in this chapter. They can only be replaced at a service station.

    Preparing for a replacement

    Switch off the ignition and the corresponding electrical consumer.
    Open the appropriate fuse box.

    Recognition of blown fuses

    Blown fuse

    A blown fuse can be recognized by the burnt metal wire.
    Shine a flashlight on the fuse. So the burnt place will be noticeably better.

    Replacing fuses

    Remove the plastic tweezers from the fuse box cover.

    Removing and installing a fuse

    Grab the small fuse from above (A).
    Grab the large fuse by sliding the tweezers from the side (B).
    Remove the blown fuse.
    Replace the blown fuse with a new one, designed for the same current strength (color and marking must be identical), of the same size.
    Replace the cover.
    ATTENTION
    The use of high amperage fuses may cause damage to the electrical circuit elsewhere.

    Problems with the cigarette lighter on any car, not only the Volkswagen Tiguan, are equally unpleasant for owners, even if they do not smoke at all. This device is today used to connect additional electronic devices, such as a video recorder, Charger for phone, automobile compressor and many others. Often, it is their fault that failures occur.

    Why crashes happen

    Most often, failures occur due to a blown fuse. Experts recommend checking the power supply at the fuses numbered 28, 29, 31 and their condition. Number 28 may not be available on some models. This unit is located in the cabin under the steering wheel. Also problematic may be fuse number 50 in block B, which is located in the engine compartment. It is rated for 50 amps.

    It should be noted that the fuse numbers may not be used, it depends on model range cars. If a problematic fuse is found, the cause of its blown should be found out, since if there is a short circuit in the circuit, then until it is eliminated, the fuse will blow. Also, carefully consider and remember where the fuse comes from, there are a lot of empty sockets in the block, the installation location is easy to confuse, then more problems will be added.

    What else should you pay attention to

    The most problematic is the use of a socket for connecting non-standard electronic equipment, especially a car compressor. Its starting current can greatly exceed the rated limit of the fuse and it will blow out during starting. Therefore, the compressor is recommended to be connected directly to the battery terminals.

    Cases have been recorded when non-standard connectors of connected devices became the culprits of failures. When connecting these devices, there may be a short circuit inside the cigarette lighter socket, resulting in a short circuit. If this does not resolve the problems, you will have to disassemble the cigarette lighter socket to check the condition of the wiring.

    As in any car, Volkswagen Tiguan fuses are designed to protect electrical equipment in the event of any malfunctions or emergencies. During a power surge, the fuse blows and the circuit breaks, which means that the supply of electricity to the problem consumer is cut off.

    We immediately warn you that the company's specialists are continuously working to improve the design of the 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan and very often change not only the purpose, but also the location of the fuses. Therefore, you can only find more reliable information in the manual that comes with the vehicle.

    Location and wiring diagram

    The saloon fuse box is located very conveniently at the driver's feet behind the glove box.

    The engine compartment is located under the hood to the right of battery.

    Removal and replacement process

    The fuses in the Volkswagen Tiguan 2013 are in fairly accessible places and their replacement is not difficult. A burned out element can change as follows.

    In the engine room

    1. Opening the bonnet cover Tiguan 2013.
    2. In the diagram, we find which element is responsible for the non-working equipment.
    3. Next, you need to slide the clamps and open the lid.
    4. We find where it is, as we assume burned out.
    5. We extract it with the help of tweezers, which is located in one of the compartments.
    6. We put a new responder at face value to be replaced.
    7. We turn on a non-working consumer.
    8. If everything is in order, close the lid and snap the latches.

    If there are problems with the equipment again, then it is already necessary to look for the cause in it and not use it until you repair it.

    In the salon

    1. Opening the door, pull back, we get access to the electrical fuses.
    2. We find, guided by the catalog, a burned-out element and replace it.
    3. You can only change to one that matches the face value.
    4. If the equipment is working properly, put the box in its original position.
    1. One electrical fuse sometimes protects the circuits of two or even three energy consumers. And sometimes one consumer can be protected by several elements.
    2. The replacement of a burnt out can be carried out only after finding out and eliminating the cause of this burnout. If the fuse blows again after replacement, then you need to check the consumer that it protects.
    3. Before work, you must turn off the electrical system.
    4. Do not touch the wires that go to the ignition, they may be under high voltage.
    5. Do not short circuit the electrical system as this may cause a fire.
    6. Bugs or protective elements of a larger denomination can become the culprits of a fire.
    7. It is necessary to replace only elements of the same nominal value as burnt ones. Stick to color and labeling.
    8. Fuses that are rated for high current can damage the electrical circuit.
    9. Keep dust and water out of the compartments. This may damage the electrical system.

    As you can see, the work itself is not difficult, the only problem is determining the location of the required element. It can only be found out exactly according to the scheme that comes with the vehicle, since the design of the car changes very often and, accordingly, the location of many elements can be changed.

    The Volkswagen Tiguan crossover is one of the best-selling cars in the domestic car market and is mass-produced by Volkswagen A.G. within 10 years. This is greatly facilitated by the fact that its production has been mastered in Russia at the Kaluga Automobile Plant of the German concern (2016).

    Of course, this is not the only advantage of the car. The main ones are the notorious reliability and build quality of Volkswagen cars. After all, it is Tiguan named safest crossover SUV, which has been repeatedly confirmed by the results of crash tests:

    At the same time, the safety of operation of a modern car largely depends on the reliability of the on-board electrical network and electronic control systems connected to it.

    Fuses Volkswagen Tiguan

    The reliability of the on-board electrical network and electrical appliances connected to it is ensured by a developed protection system that prevents the failure of its constituent elements during short circuits, power surges, overloads, etc. Such a system is a set of fuse-links grouped according to their functional characteristics and located in different places of the car .

    Important! The developers of the Tiguan are constantly working to improve it and quite often change both the purpose and the location of individual fuses. In this regard, reliable information about where this or that fuse is located, and what circuit it actually protects, can only be obtained at service centers servicing Volkswagen A.G. cars.

    The main fuses that protect the electrical circuits of the on-board electrical network of the Volkswagen Tiguan crossover are structurally located in:

    • engine compartment;
    • salon.

    1. Switching block.
    2. Underhood fuse box.
    3. Fuse box in the dashboard.
    4. Block of automatic fuses.

    Salon

    In the salon under dashboard The Tiguana has a relay and fuse block that protects the main elements of the electrical circuit:

    A is a thermal fuse that protects the driver's seat adjustment electrical circuit.

    B - control unit (CU) of the parking pilot.

    C - control unit for onboard power supply.

    D - Relay and fuse box 1.

    E - fuse box C.

    F - relay and fuse block 2.

    Most of the fusible links are installed in block C, which can be accessed by the driver in case it is necessary to replace a failed element. You can recognize a burnt insert by appearance, looking at her "in the light":

    In order to gain access to the inserts of fuse box C, you need to:

    The nominal current value for which a particular insert is designed is encrypted by the color marking of its body:

    Depending on the year of manufacture of the car, the inserts in block C protect different electrical circuits. For example, initially (since November 2007) their purpose corresponded to the table.

    In 2009, the purpose of a number of fuse links in block C has changed (see table)

    In 2011, Volkswagen A.G. carried out restyling Tiguan.

    After the restyling, the purpose of the inserts has changed again (see table).

    In November 2011, Volkswagen Tuareg crossovers with a modified electric circuit, the modernization of which led to the need for another change in the protection system for the elements of the onboard power supply (see table).

    With a few exceptions, the layout of the inserts in the block located in the Volkswagen Tiguan cabin corresponds to the one shown in the figure.

    Engine compartment

    Under the hood of the Volkswagen Tiguan, the developers installed nodes containing inserts in the immediate vicinity of the battery (on the right, when viewed from the side front bumper). At the same time, both powerful power fuses and fuse-links of lower power are color-coded depending on the rated current:

    • Color marking of power fuses (Block A):

    Case color

    Current strength, A

    Orange

    Brown

    Lilac

    • Color coding of inserts of lower power (block B):

    Fuse body color

    Current strength, A

    Lilac

    Light brown

    Brown

    Light blue

    White (transparent)

    light green

    Orange

    Switching block

    Depending on the year of manufacture, fuses were used in the switching unit of the Tiguan crossover to protect power circuits:

    Since November 2008, the purpose of power fuses has changed somewhat

    Location of fuses (SA) in the electronics box from November 2008

    In May 2009, crossovers appeared, in which the purpose of the elements of the switching unit once again changed:

    Important! In the Tiguana's switching unit, for the first time, powerful fuses with several fusible links. Such elements, in case of failure of at least one element, are replaced only as an assembly.

    This version of the switching unit was used in the Volkswagen Tiguan for two years, and then was replaced by a similar one, but without group fuses. Their location is shown in the table:

    Notes:

    The last time on the Tiguan crossovers, the power fuse switching unit was changed in November 2011.

    Notes:

    1. Only for vehicles with 1.4L petrol engine;

    2. Only for vehicles with 2.0L engine;

    3. Depending on the configuration.

    The location and purpose of inserts of lower power in the engine compartment fuse box of the Volkswagen Tiguan has changed several times (2009, 2011). Initially it was like this:

    Notes:

    3) depending on the configuration.

    In May 2009, Tiguan crossovers appeared on the market, in the fuse box of which changes were made:

    Notes:

    In May 2011, there were changes again in the block of fuse-links:

    Notes:

    Further changes in the layout of the protective elements and the Tiguan electrical circuits they protect can be found at certified stations. Maintenance Volkswagen cars.

    During the operation of the Tiguan, fusible links often fail. The lack of layout diagrams and information about the electrical circuits they protect in the accompanying documentation makes it much more difficult to find a faulty insert and eliminate the defect. Most often, car owners are faced with the need to replace the fuses responsible for the work:

    • headlight washer;
    • cigarette lighter.

    Headlight washer fuses

    One of the characteristic failures in the operation of numerous systems of the Volkswagen Tiguan crossover is the failure of the headlight washer. This happens especially often in the cold season, when the washer pump jams due to freezing. At the same time, the protective fusible insert burns out, which is located in the fuse box C (behind the secret drawer for small items in the crossover cabin).

    Having reached the fuse box, you need to check insert No. 29, designed for a rated current of 15 A (body color - blue). In case of failure, the fusible link is replaced with a serviceable one.

    Cigarette lighter fuses

    The fusible link that protects the electrical circuit of the cigarette lighter often fails. This is due to the fact that the cigarette lighter socket is used by many drivers for other purposes. This socket can be used to connect various electronic devices, which help the driver navigate the situation on the road (navigators, parking sensors, car recorder, etc.). In this case, the cigarette lighter circuit can be overloaded and the fusible link fails. The rating of the fusible insert that protects the electrical circuit of the cigarette lighter is 20 A. The body color is yellow. It was located in fuse box C, which is located in the Tiguan's cabin and hidden behind a secret drawer for small items. Its cover is located under the lighting control knob.

    In Tiguan crossovers produced from 2007 to 2009, it was installed in seat number 30, and in subsequent models - seat number 31.

    You can find out how to find and replace a burned-out fusible link yourself by watching the video:

    General rules for replacement

    The failure of the fuses installed in the Volkswagen Tiguan crossover is usually due to a malfunction of the electrical appliance whose circuit they protect. In this regard, its replacement must be carried out only after the elimination of the identified defect. At the same time, it must be remembered that when working in some crossover nodes there is high voltage, so it is advisable to observe the following safety rules:

    • do not touch the wires of the ignition system;
    • avoid the possibility of short circuits;
    • do not use repaired fusible inserts ("bugs");
    • eliminate the possibility of closing the contacts of the crossover electrical network without a fuse;
    • do not install foreign current-carrying objects (wire, coins, paper clips, etc.) instead of a burned-out fusible insert;

    Important! It is forbidden to install fuse-links, the rated current of which exceeds the set value for a particular electrical circuit. The use of such fuses may cause malfunctions elsewhere on the crossover's on-board electrical system and, in addition, contribute to the ignition of electrical wiring.

    In addition, when opening any fuse box of the Volkswagen Tiguan crossover, it must be protected from dust and dirt. Dirty contacts of the sockets intended for the installation of fuse-links can provoke the failure of electrical equipment.

    Information! The electrical circuit of a particular electrical appliance can be protected by several fuse links. One fuse can protect the electrical circuits of several electrical appliances.
