I would like to describe the useful experience of working with Yandex Browser. Until recently, I used the Chromium browser assembly from the Yandex company, that is, Yandex.Browser. This was due to the fact that I wanted to synchronize contacts not with Google accounts in Chrome, but with Yandex accounts, since I use it more often.

Remark: Next, I will talk about passwords that are stored in the browser. Yes, I'm aware of the matter information security. Yes, I know about password encryption systems. And yes, I only store passwords in the browser that are not particularly valuable and do not pose a danger if they are lost.

Here I decided to save the passwords in a separate file. But I didn't find such a function at all. I wrote to Yandex support and received an answer that such a function is not available in the browser and there is no way to export the password. It wouldn't be so bad if the saved passwords in the browser could be transferred to another browser. But neither Chrome nor Mozilla see Yandex.Browser and do not consider it a browser at all! It turns out that you can only use passwords through Ya.Browser, you can synchronize passwords between Ya.Browsers on different computers, but you cannot save them anywhere or transfer them en masse. At this point, I decided to part with this browser. But what to do with passwords? Everything turned out to be very simple.

Solution!

By the address C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Yandex\YandexBrowser\User Data\Default file is located Login Data. This file contains all passwords in the form of a sqlite database. Passwords are stored in clear text in a BLOB and can be easily read by the browser Google Chrome, if you copy this file to the Chrome folder: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default.

Be careful! This copy will destroy your passwords in Chrome, replacing them with browser ones!

This is how I found a solution to the problem. Well, I don’t work with Ya Browser anymore :)

The Chrome personal browser settings have a section with auxiliary options, which you will have to go to. You will have to specify exactly the synchronization and what specific settings need to be made.

Carefully mark all the points that need to be synchronized. Agree to the requirements and move on.

When the process of synchronizing all the options you have selected comes to an end, you will have the opportunity to launch the browser on the operating system of another computer. Next, you will have to log into Google Chrome exactly as shown in the screenshot above. The Old Way to Backup Google Chrome

Good afternoon or evening, dear visitor to the site itbc.kiev.ua! Today we will learn how to backup the google chrome browser. For Google Chrome, it is better to do everything on your own, because problems have been noticed more than once with the creation of a Chrome backup by third-party extensions.

So, first we must have google chrome installed, from which we will actually make a backup copy of passwords, bookmarks and extensions!

First of all, before creating backup ( backup copy) chrome we must have google chrome itself turned off, so if you have it open, exit it!

Now we need to copy the account profile itself from google chrome!

In Windows Xp - it is located in “C:Documents and Settings Local SettingsApplication DataGoogleChromeUser DataDefault”

In Windows Vista or 7 – in “C:Users AppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser DataDefault”

We need to copy the Default folder itself

How to quickly open this folder, for example for Windows Xp. We go to the C: Documents and Settings folder and look at the account name (in this situation it is Admin)

Now go to Start -> Run and copy “C:Documents and Settings Local SettingsApplication DataGoogleChromeUser DataDefault” without “”, change to Admin (in your case there may be a different user) and click Ok

In Windows 7, we do the same thing, only instead of the C: Documents and Settings folder, we go to the C: Users folder and look at the name. The Users folder may be called "Users"

Now press windows + R or start -> Run and paste “C:Users AppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser DataDefault” without “” and change to Alexander (in our situation), then click OK

As a result of these manipulations, we end up in a folder with google profiles chrome. If you have not created any profiles, then we will be interested in the Default folder; if you have, then the folder will be called the same as we named the profile. Now our Default folder needs to be moved to another location (for example, to drive D), while closing Google Chrome itself. We will transfer the usual “ctrl + c” and “ctrl + v”

All! The Default folder has been copied, you don’t need to do anything else!

Now how to transfer our profile to Chrome on a new computer. Download and install the new Google Chrome on your computer (if it is not already installed) Now, as in Figure 2 for Windows Xp or 4 for Windows 7, go to the folder with Chrome profiles and copy into it, replacing the Default folder that we copied earlier (at the same time Google Chrome must be closed and if you have just installed Chrome, open it at least once to create a Default profile, then follow the steps indicated)

After replacing, open your Chrome and you will see the transferred bookmarks, applications and passwords.

There is a bug that passwords are not entered automatically. They must be entered on every site at least once. To view saved passwords, open Chrome, go to Settings -> Show advanced settings -> Manage saved passwords and on the necessary sites, click “Show”, after which you will see on which sites what passwords you have.

Usually, this can all be resolved through the password recovery form, which is available everywhere. But the Chrome browser will store this data in its manager. Although to access passwords you will still have to enter the password for your account Windows entries.

In such a manager, passwords will be stored all the time until the user deletes them. By the way, the popularity of cloud services that come with all modern browsers is growing more and more. They allow you to synchronize all your accounts, online, across all your devices, and there is no need to separately enter passwords for each specific site.

Using cookies

Have you noticed that on the login form of many sites there is a special “Remember me” item? But for others, the logic is slightly reversed and the site will always remember you unless you check the box next to “someone else’s computer.”

But not many people know what this is connected with and why they need to check (or not check) such boxes. And some users are even very confused due to the presence of two options: “remember” and “don’t remember.”

And all this is connected with cookies (cookie - translated as “cookies”). They store credentials and this allows you not to enter your login password every time you visit the site; each time you will be taken to a site where you will be logged in automatically.

Cookies can be found in your browser folder; each Internet browser stores them in its own format. For example, for browsers built on the Chromium platform, cookies will be saved in the SQLite version 3 format. You can find cookies in Chrome using this path:

All saved cookies will be stored until the user deletes a specific cookie or clears all cookies. They can also be deleted upon expiration of their validity period, which can be set by the site. If we take, for example, sites based on WordPress, then their cookies are stored only for two weeks, after latest update.

How to manage cookies in Chrome using the Cookies app?

Often, to transfer passwords, it is enough to import a browser profile, or simply copy the cookie file itself. But it happens that for some reason this is impossible or simply impractical. Therefore, in in this case, we will look at the operation and management of “cookies” using special application for Chrome. This application is called exactly that – Cookies. It has quite broad capabilities, and among them, the key ones are the transfer and download of cookies at the domain level.

The application itself has an English-language interface and working with it is not very simple. Therefore, we will now look in detail at how to manage it.

  1. The cookie storage itself;
  2. Domain search;
  3. List of cookies for a specific domain;
  4. Separately selected “cookie”;
  5. Cookie contents. The password hash, login and other data necessary for authorization will be located here;
  6. The date when the cookie expires (you can change it and set other parameters manually);

Secure (decrypted) storage

This application allows you to create a special encrypted storage, which is highly recommended when transferring cookies. When opening the repository for the first time, you will need to come up with and specify New Password. It will need to be entered each time you access the storage.

Transferring cookies

The entire procedure can be divided into two main steps.

Step one - download cookies from the main computer.


Try not to forget this password, you can write it down somewhere, it will also be useful to you when saving cookies on another computer. We save the file with the extension .db in any convenient folder and with any name. After that, transfer it to another computer.

Step two is to save the cookie on another computer.

Now we will import cookies on the target device. It must also have the Cookie application installed.

  2. Click on the “Restore” button and select the file in which all your cookies were saved.

Cookies will be transferred to the main storage on the new browser.

Now you can check and go to the site (from which the “cookies” came). Everything should work great and you should be able to easily access your account without entering a password. Additionally, you can increase the validity period of cookies to ensure that they are not lost in case of prolonged non-use.

How are cookies transferred in other browsers?

The article would not be fully useful if methods for transferring cookies in other popular browsers were not mentioned, because not all users use Chrome. We will look at them in less detail, because in many ways these methods are very similar to those described above, and in the case of Firefox and Opera, I personally have not tested them in practice. Yandex

Here everything is similar to Chrome, we use the Cookies application and transfer the cookies according to the previously mentioned instructions.

We will tell you how you can save all passwords during reinstallation using examples of the most popular browsers. We'll show you two ways to save passwords in each browser. By saving to your computer and synchronizing with your account.

  1. After reinstalling and downloading the browser, just return these files to the original folder, and all your passwords will be restored in the browser.

  1. To start synchronization, you need to go to settings and find the corresponding button there.

  1. After this, you need to confirm the action and start.

  1. The next step is to either create an account by specifying a username, password and year of birth, or log in with an existing account.

  1. At this stage, you again need to go to the settings, and in the section "Synchronization" indicate what exactly you want to synchronize. We recommend checking all the boxes just in case.

  1. Once your data has been synchronized, you can safely reinstall the system without fear of losing important passwords. And after installing the browser and logging into it, all you have to do is log into your account and all the information will be displayed in your browser again.

Yandex

Method No. 1

  1. As in other browsers, in the same way, first we set up the display of all hidden system folders on the computer.
  2. Then we go to the Yandex browser folder, where a file with all information with passwords is stored.
  1. From this folder we need to find and copy a file called Login Data. This is where all saved passwords are stored. It is advisable to copy it to removable media to ensure safe storage of information.

  1. After reinstalling the system, you need to send the copied file back to the folder where we found it. If there is already such a file in this folder, then it should be replaced with the one that was copied before reinstallation.

Method No. 2

  1. In order to enable synchronization, you must first find the appropriate section in the settings.

  1. Next, you should log into your account by entering your username and password, and if you don’t have an account yet, create one.

  1. And after that, as in other browsers, you should specify what data will be synchronized. We recommend checking all the boxes, but if you wish, you can select only passwords.

Internet Explorer

Saving passwords in the browser Internet Explorer.

Method No. 1

In this browser, things are completely different.

If you have a browser version lower than 9 inclusive, then you can find and copy them at:

But if your browser version is 10 or 11, then you will have to do things differently, since in these versions passwords are stored in a special storage.

To find and view them, you need to follow the path indicated in Fig. 28:

And in order to copy them, you need to go to the adjacent section - Windows Credentials and select Archive Credentials.

To return the copied information back to the browser after reinstallation, you must select "Recovery" (next to Archiving) and set the path where the copied files are located. After this, restart your computer and successfully use your data.

Unfortunately, there is no account synchronization in this browser.

With the help of such programs, you don’t have to waste time copying passwords from all browsers one by one, but do everything at once and very quickly.

Below we will present to your attention one useful application that will find all the passwords located in your browsers and allow you to quickly save them.

After launching the utility, it will open in Russian. And you immediately get access to all saved passwords from all browsers you have installed.

Having selected the necessary objects (or all), through the item "Edit" in the menu, you can copy them.

There are several extension options in which you can save selected data.

In addition, if you don’t like the look of the columns in the window, you can customize it to suit yourself and remove unnecessary elements from them.

And in additional settings you can select the browsers from which you want to take password information.

The application will not be able to decrypt passwords if:

  • If they have been encrypted using the web browser's Master Password function;
  • If the path to the browser is on an external drive;
  • If there is an empty history in Internet Explorer, because the application extracts information from a temporary file about the pages visited in this browser;
  • If passwords were exported from Internet Explorer to Google browser Chrome.

Updates to this utility are constantly being released and there is a high probability that these shortcomings will be eliminated in future versions.
