Mi note 2 gaming test. The main camera of a mobile device is usually located on the back of the case and is used for taking photos and videos.

A company often appears on the pages of our online publication, whose products allow users to keep up with the latest information achievements. The growing demand for new Xiaomi smartphones with an attractive price and excellent features only confirms the correctness of the chosen strategy.

And recently, even such a rare gadget fell into our tenacious hands, as soon as the “frameless” Xiaomi Mi Mix appeared on sale, which really demonstrated new technologies in reality.

Even earlier, the company introduced a number of new flagship models, including Xiaomi Mi5S and Mi5S Plus. Rumors immediately appeared on the network that the latest device came to replace the Mi Note line. After all, the concept of Mi5S Plus is extremely similar to that of Mi Note, and the dimensions of the models are close along the diagonal of the display.

Let's start with the specification table. In the course of the article, we will compare the advantages offered by the novelty relative to other smartphones in this class.

The presented set of characteristics can be considered normal for 2016. A smartphone can provide a solid level of performance in almost any task. A large rounded display will be a distinctive feature of Mi Note 2. In addition, the small size and frame of the device catches the eye.

On paper, everything is very good, but how does such a bunch of components work? This will become clear from our detailed Xiaomi review Mi note 2.

Packaging and packaging Xiaomi Mi Note 2

The novelty is packed in a classic for Xiaomi compact white branded cardboard box. The absence of bright elements on the packaging is a recognized style of the company. On the front side there is only an embossed MI logo, and along the edges the designation of the smartphone model.

On the reverse side there is a small sticker with some legal information and a small set of technical specifications of the smartphone. Almost all designations are in Chinese.

The packaging still makes a positive impression, and does an excellent job with the assigned functionality. Removing the cover of the box towards the user, we see a smartphone, which must be protected by shipping films on both sides. Using a small strap, the smartphone can be removed from the cardboard backing.

After the removal of the latter, the delivery kit is found, which has changed slightly since the last time and now it includes:

  • compact Charger;
  • USB Type-C cable;
  • Plastic transparent case;
  • Documentation and a paper clip to remove the SIM tray.

The cover is normal, serves for primary protection of the device. There are no design frills in it, but it's nice that the manufacturer took care of the safety of their devices, equipping them with similar things. We will not complain about the lack of a headset, now you will not surprise anyone with this.

A complete vertical-type charger with a Chinese plug, in our case, along with a smartphone, we received a compact adapter for a European plug. It is convenient to use the charger, it does not seriously heat up during operation. The assembly and quality of the available accessories is high. The smartphone and standard charger support the fast charging function.

Market leading manufacturer Chinese smartphones once again pleased its admirers with the release of a new model. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 device was presented to the public, which managed to harmoniously combine not only technical equipment, but also aesthetics. It turned out very well and the smartphone definitely deserves a closer acquaintance.

Design and ergonomics

The manufacturer has never sought to create devices with a unique design, preferring greater simplicity and reliability than aesthetics. The case is collapsible, the device itself has a typical rectangular shape with slightly rounded corners.

The case is made of metal, while the front face, including the curved edges of the display, is covered with durable and reliable glass. Aluminum has a tactilely pleasant matte coating, which increases the comfort of using a smartphone. Color solutions do not please with their variety, only two options are available - silver and black.

At the bottom of the screen is a touch key, which also acts as a fingerprint scanner. The earpiece is placed on top front-camera and a notification diode with several color indicators. The physical switches for the volume level and on / off device have found their place on the right side of the smartphone. On the left is a slot for a SIM card.

The USB Type-C connector in Mi Note 2 is located on the bottom. The speaker is also located here, but the infrared port, noise reduction microphone and headphone jack can be found already on the edge of the top. The main camera, as well as the flash that accompanies it, are located on the back surface and are located not on the edge, but closer to the center.

There are no even the slightest complaints about the assembly and its quality - everything is sound, there is no backlash, there are no gaps either. In the hand, the device lies comfortably and does not cause significant discomfort even when operating it with one hand on the move.

Display

The screen diagonal is 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and a pixel density of 386 ppi. The edges are curved, which visually increases the dimensions even more. Color reproduction and color balance high level, the picture is realistic, rich and bright enough. Even in the vicinity of a strong light source, the image is perceived without problems.

The viewing angles are large, even a significant deviation does not cause discomfort - there is no distortion, everything is as natural as during normal viewing. With detail, everything is also very good, however, as with the dynamics of graphics. Several operating modes are provided, with optimal adjustment to specific operating conditions and user wishes.

Hardware component of Xiaomi Mi Note 2

A new development from Xiaomi - the Mi Note 2 smartphone has quite impressive technical parameters which puts it in a favorable light in front of its competitors. So, the performance is based on the powerful Snapdragon 821 chipset, equipped with 4 Kryo cores. The maximum allowable clock frequency reaches 2.35 GHz.

As an add-on that further expands the productivity and functionality of the device, the Adreno 530 graphics accelerator at 653 MHz acts. The combination is very good, allowing you to get the most out of not only working with applications, but also from spending time playing your favorite games.

As for memory, this device is represented by two variations. So, in the first case, the value of RAM is 4 GB, in the second - 6 GB. User memory comes in two versions - 64 GB and 128 GB. The manufacturer does not provide for the installation of a drive, but the integrated volume is enough for trouble-free storage of a wide variety of media content.

In general, the results of synthetic tests are more than eloquent - the device is capable of solving even the most complex and voluminous tasks, while there is no need to talk about heating the case even at peak load.

Calls and multimedia

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 smartphone is capable of simultaneously interacting with two nano-SIMs at once. The volume of the speaker is enough for trouble-free dialogue even in a noisy room or on a busy street. At the same time, the signal is clean, there are no distortions and defects, no noise is felt.

The call speaker is quite loud, there are no complaints about the quality of its sound. It has a good location, so there is no question of muting the melody. Although the vibration signal does not impress with its indicators, it still does not give reason to talk about its low quality.

It is impossible not to say about the playback of musical content. Everything here is also at a fairly high level - the signal is strong, the bass is good, the division into frequencies is even and clean. This is more than enough for comfortable listening, both with and without headphones.

System

The device operates on Android 6.0.1 marshmallow, the manufacturer's proprietary shell MIUI 8 can be considered a nice addition. The performance is typical, there are no special innovations, so those who used previous models will not have problems with perception.

The set of pre-installed applications does not please with a special variety, although this should not be considered too big a drawback. Everything you need for work and entertainment can be seamlessly downloaded from Google Play.

Camera Xiaomi Mi Note 2

But on the cameras it is worth dwelling in more detail. The main resolution is 23 megapixels, which is one of the best indicators in this price segment. Optics includes 6 lenses, which, combined with an aperture of f / 2.0, allows you to get pictures of the highest quality in any shooting conditions.

In the presence of a flash, digital zoom, image stabilizer, phase-type focus, several preset modes for the fullest disclosure of the creative potential of users. Photos delight not only with their clarity and detail, but also with excellent color elaboration, realistic and natural.

When shooting in a dark period of time, the flash allows you to get rid of many defects and get pictures of quite acceptable quality - of course, it is far from ideal, but no one requires it in such a situation. The front camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels, which is enough for video calls and taking good selfies.

Video shooting is available in up to 4K mode inclusive - 2160p at a maximum value of 30 fps.

Connection

The communication capabilities of the smartphone do not offer anything supernatural, but at the same time include everything required for comfortable use. A full set of protocols, including wireless ones, is available, support for functioning in LTE networks is implemented.

There are no problems with connecting to satellites, the process itself takes just a few seconds. Integration is possible with several sources at once, including foreign ones. The presence of the IR port allows you to use the device instead of the remote control, effectively controlling a variety of home devices and appliances.

Working hours

Mi Note 2 has a 4070 mAh battery, which can be charged both in normal and express mode, while using the 3rd generation Quick Charge technology. A charge to more than 80% in this case will take no more than 30 minutes. But fast charging is not provided, which is typical for devices of this cost.

In standby mode, the device is able to function for 360 hours, you can talk for about 14 hours, listen to music - 40 hours, watch video - 10 hours no more.

Advantages and disadvantages of the model

When studying the strengths of a smartphone, you should pay attention to:
  • Excellent system performance;
  • Ergonomics implemented at a high level;
  • Dimensional screen with excellent picture quality;
  • Integrated support for 3D Touch;
  • The presence of a fingerprint scanner and an NFC module;
  • Built-in iris scanner;
  • Capacious battery pack;
  • Optimal price/quality balance.
There are a number of certain disadvantages, while the most relevant are the following:
  • To activate 6 GB RAM memory requires 128 GB on a flash card;
  • There is no separate microSD slot;
  • The back face is susceptible to fingerprints.

Now Xiaomi Mi Note 2 costs approximately $500. Just think! 500 bucks and Xiaomi - and all this in one sentence. Lived up! Whatever it was, we have a real flagship. Uber design, the most advanced features, a worthy replacement for the deceased us samsung galaxy Note 7. Or not? Now let's figure it out.

Alternative Return cashback

Options or where is the premium?

Do you think you will expect some kind of premium packaging, since you spent as much as $ 500 on a smartphone? No matter how! Before us is the same box that we have already met in. That smartphone, by the way, costs about $160. I don't think comments are needed here.

Inside, in addition to the power supply (5-12 V and 1.5-2.5 A) and the USB Type-C cable, there was a simple plastic case. It is exactly the same quality as the regular case in the case of .

Suitable only for the first time, flimsy and very quickly scratched. Look at the photo below. This scratch appeared 30 seconds after I peeled off the factory films from the case.

The scratch appeared after 30 seconds!

All "iPhones" design

Well, it's just wow! Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is awesome.

From this point of view, this is the best device that I have held this year. Here's the best one! Yes.

Neither the iPhone 7 Plus (I have not tried Jet Black, to be honest), nor the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, nor any other devices caught me as much as the appearance of this pepper.

Smooth, big, nice to the touch, brushed metal on the sides, gently curved glass front and back, the main camera looks at you like a Canon 1D X Mark II lens - all this is our hero.

The smartphone looks really expensive and status.

It is hard to imagine that it was created not in Cupertino or not in Samsung laboratories on the 78th floor underground, but somewhere in China and a company that is not even among the top five smartphone suppliers. It is even more difficult to imagine that there are people who do not know and have never heard of Xiaomi. After such an apparatus?

You turn on your smartphone and the magic continues.

It seems that screens without an air gap have been used for a long time. They are closest to protective glass, so it feels like you touch your finger directly to the icons, to the menu items, touch the text and so on. So, if you have already experienced this, then Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will prove to you that no, you have not experienced it. It is on the example of this device that you rediscover the mobile display.

It sounds loud, but that's how my acquaintance with the device went. The screen here seems to be printed on the front panel and neatly fits on the rounded sides.

The manufacturer made a black welcome screen and rightly so!

If you are indoors, then its boundaries are not visible. They imperceptibly pass into the glass case of the smartphone, the smooth edges of which nobly reflect the incident light. It's just space!

Hence immediately a fair remark about the colors of the case. Should I take an alternative color - silver-blue? Not! Just forget about it. Black and only black!

In general, I am not a supporter of dark smartphones, because it's boring. Most users have just such devices, so they want a breath of fresh air, colors and life among the gloomy “variety” of smartphone colors. However, not in the case of Mi Note 2.

For such appearance smartphone wants to forgive everything. And you believe, he has something to forgive.

Below the screen is a physical home button. Thanks Xiaomi! Thank you for not putting those miserable crutches that we saw in your flagship. For our hero, the physical Home key with a built-in fingerprint scanner works exactly the same as on Mi 5. And there the button was good.

On the sides are neat dots of backlighting of the touch keys. They look decent too.

You get even more imbued with quality when you transfer your attention from glass to a metal frame. Brushed metal, perfectly beveled corners, no gaps and backlashes - the assembly is as monolithic as possible.

The only thing is that, as always, the volume buttons and the screen turn on are slightly backlashed. However, this is completely normal and occurs in all modern devices.

The peephole of the main camera sticks out quite a bit above the surface of the rear window. I don't think it's critical. At least I didn't get offended by it.

The device is really large, but if it were smaller, I think it was perceived a little differently. Large, wide, black, male smartphone.

It is slightly larger than the Mi5S Plus, but due to sharply beveled corners in front and behind it lies better in the hand.

Of course he's slippery. Be careful when using it and especially when taking pictures. The side ends are thin, they do not particularly rest against the palms, and therefore the phone can easily slip out of the hands.

Also, do not place the device on an uneven surface. He will definitely leave her to meet the floor.

And there will be no one to blame but yourself. Screen repair in the same iPhone is expensive, but it is at least possible to implement, which cannot be said about our character. Where can it be repaired?

The glossy surfaces of Mi Note 2 also have a downside - prints. Yes, the glasses here have a high-quality oleophobic coating, but no one has canceled physics, so traces of use still remain. Yes, they are easily removed, but they are there and will constantly haunt the device.

Should I wear my device in a case? It's a matter of preference. Personally, I am against it, because the smartphone must be used exactly in the form in which the manufacturer invented it. With all its advantages, edges, glasses and, most importantly, thickness. Especially when it comes to such a unit.

To hide such beauty in a case, and even with a miserable flip? Well then take better samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It is better to use a case there, because the original appearance is so ... South Korean.

In general, I give the design of Xiaomi Mi Note 2 five plus, because this device evokes really strong emotions. At the same time, I had Mi5S Plus (), LeEco Le 3 Pro (there will be a review), Asus Zenfone 3 () on the test, and after the second "mi-note" they are all kind of faded. Asus, admittedly, is also all so glossy and iridescent, but still it's not that. It's not like that anymore.

Fingerprint scanner and button

The most important thing is that here we have a normal, physical button that needs to be pressed. It has a built-in fingerprint sensor, respectively, there is a touch pad. Touched - a step back, pushed - went to the main screen. Of course, there is also a hold function, but it is additionally configured in the menu. Optional.

On one forum, someone complained that she was tight. By the way, maybe. On the other hand, its course is very clear, with a characteristic click, which is nice.

The recognition itself is fast and confident. There are no problems with him.

Not at all the fear that was in. There is no scanner, because it is impossible to use it.

There is additional functionality. You can block not only the device itself, but also individual applications. In principle, this is a standard functionality for Xiaomi devices.

Separately, I want to talk about the vibration of Haptic feedback while typing on the keyboard. It's thin, soft, and probably the closest thing I've ever tried to Apple's Taptic Engine. Believe me, this is praise, because in and 7 vibration feedback is simply fabulous.

The most important thing is that such a response works not only with a proprietary keyboard that is unsuitable for a Russian person, but also with a solution from Google. And there is a language familiar to us, chips that have long been familiar to us, and so on. If the device is black, puts a dark theme. How else?!

Not a display, but trouble

If the screen is curved, and we have it just like that, then this is most likely an OLED matrix. This rule also applies in our case. True, there is a South Korean development POLED (Flex series from LG), but everything is completely scary there. We won't go into details.

  • diagonal 5.7 inches
  • resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • pixel density 386 ppi
  • contrast ratio 100000:1
  • 110% NTSC color matching

The figures are, of course, good, but they are not the only happiness. Many will probably be confused by some kind of Full HD in the flagship, but I personally think that Quad HD is completely unnecessary in devices with a display diagonal of up to 6 inches. Extra load on the processor and power consumption to nowhere.

But to install a high-quality, beautiful screen in Mi Note 2, at the level of some IPS, it would be very nice from Xiaomi. But it didn't happen.

The display of Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is just a failure.

First, PenTile. These halos, friability of the text and other "charms". Mmmm!..

Let's go further. Only at an absolutely right angle the picture remains normal for perception. How to say? It turns green, which is typical for Samsung flagship matrices from 2012-2013. There are no natural flowers here and this is very sad.

It is worth at least a little deviate to the side and the colors floated.

There is not just an inversion here, the colors shimmer two or three times from the bottom edge to the top.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 (top) and Xiaomi Mi5s Plus (bottom) 2

You open a white picture, deviate, for example, by 120 degrees and observe the next “beauty”. The upper third is normal, it seems to be white. The middle is either pink or green, but the lower third is distinctly green, and maybe it gives off blue - something in between.

You deviate towards the transverse axis, the screen becomes blue. In general, a rare horror.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 (top) and Xiaomi Mi5s Plus (bottom)

Even a smartphone that costs half as much (Xiaomi Redmi Pro) has a much better panel. There are bright, contrasting and very saturated colors. Let me remind you that OLED-matrix is also used there.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 (left) and Xiaomi Mi5s Plus (right)

Moreover, such a screen curved at the edges has a reverse side. Two luminous strips rounded on the sides are constantly visible. On a white background, they cast a bluish tint and even with a certain mirror effect. In the photo below, I tried to reflect this. He marked the beginning of this "disgrace" with a red line.

Fortunately, after a couple of days of use, you do not pay attention to it.

The matrix has one single advantage - the display of black.

It is as deep as possible, the screen seems to be turned off, and it is really difficult for IPS panels to compete with this (and only this) IPS panels.

An important clarification needs to be made here. In nature, there are two versions of a smartphone, or rather, even three.

The first is the standard model. It will be sold only in China, 4 + 64 GB of memory is installed inside. I have it on my test.

This inscription means that the model for China

The second is premium. Here we have 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. This modification is also sold only in China.

The third is a global modification. She has only 6 and 128 GB of memory on board, there will be no other editions. In addition, only this model can boast support for the following LTE frequencies: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41.

Chinese models can only work in the following 4G bands: 1, 3, 5, 7, 38, 39, 40, 41.

If you ordered a smartphone from China without specifying that this is the global version, then you will receive a smartphone designed for China, that is, without support for the 20th band. It has this inscription on the box.

The forums are wondering if it will be possible to unlock the 20th band after the release of the global firmware. I think it will work, because there were similar precedents on other models. Yes, and I doubt that Xiaomi produces two different phones in terms of hardware. It's easier to "block" unnecessary functionality programmatically.

Powerful but stupid

Definitely not something to complain about here. The smartphone is just reactive. Despite the fact that the product was released quite recently, the system is perfectly optimized. Nothing slows down, does not lag, does not upset the psyche.

Despite the fact that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 is faster than its 820th predecessor by about 5-10 percent, it currently remains the top solution on the Android market. While it is not completely clear what kind of solution Huawei Mate 9 (Kirin 960) has, let's wait and see.

The chipset will remain relevant until the spring of 2017, when the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be released on the Snapdragon 835 processor. Qualcomm has already shared information that the new product will overtake the previous generation by 30%. Does that mean it's all gone? By no means!

The “stone” contains an excellent margin of safety, which will definitely be enough for two years ahead. Thus, having bought Mi Note 2 now, you can score on updating your little animal for the same period.

But from the point of view of the work of RAM, everything is not so rosy.

I opened 5 tabs ( , one of my reviews, the site of a Russian newspaper, tapes and film search). After that, I opened in turn each application that was on the main screen. CPU-Z showed that there was about 1,400 MB of RAM left, but when I returned to Chrome, I found that each (!) Tab reloaded.

I do not think that 6 GB of RAM will somehow change the picture much. The point is in the system, in the optimization of MIUI, which, in terms of the distribution of “RAM”, leaves much to be desired.

The other day I did exactly the same trick on LeEco Le 3 Pro (QS821, 4 GB of RAM). So there the tabs did not reload after I sequentially opened about 40 applications! The system cunningly unloaded utilities that were open earlier than others, but the tabs in Chrome kept to the last - up to 750 MB of free RAM. So that!

In addition, there are some childhood diseases with navigation.

Maps from Google either cannot detect the location of the device for a long time, or simply go astray and I suddenly start walking not along the street, but, for example, along the roof of houses. Interestingly, there is no such problem with Yandex.Maps in principle.

By the way, the always-on screen and cross-country navigation can “eat up” the entire battery charge in about 3-4 hours. Be careful.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2- one of the representatives of the line of Chinese flagships with an unusual external design. The engineers chose an interesting combination of glass and metal to make the case. Currently, the smartphone is available in two colors - strict gray and classic black. Thanks to the screen curved at the edges, the illusion of a lack of frames is created. The thinnest borders are revealed upon closer examination. Rounded edges improve the ergonomics of this model, increasing ease of use (but in most cases it is impossible to fully control the gadget with one hand).

The display has a diagonal of 5.7 inches. High resolution of 1920 * 1080 pixels, together with the Adreno 530 graphics accelerator, create a high-quality, clear and rich picture with natural color reproduction and high contrast. Flagship Supports Everything modern technologies. There is an NFC option that allows you to pay for goods using your smartphone. This model is equipped with a speed USB input Type-C, IR port. mobile connection carried out by using two nano-SIM cards.

Thanks to the powerful “stuffing”, the smartphone can easily cope with the most “heavy” mobile games and other applications. This is facilitated by a large amount of RAM and internal memory, which differs depending on the assembly (4 and 6 GB, 64 and 128 GB, respectively). There is no support for removable micro SD cards. The powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 (MSM 8996 Pro) quad-core processor with a core frequency of 2 - 2.35 GHz and 2 - 2.19 GHz ensures smooth operation of the smartphone, without slowdowns and lags. The non-removable 4000 mAh battery supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology, capable of supporting work throughout the day.

On the back is a 22.6 MP main camera that shoots 4K video and is equipped with an LED flash, combined with autofocus and electronic stabilization. Under it is a fingerprint scanner that reads data almost instantly. The relative disadvantage of this solution is that a finger accidentally gets on the lens instead of the sensor when trying to unlock it. The front camera of Xiaomi Mi Note 2, located on the top panel above the display, has a resolution of 8.8 MP and is also equipped with an auto focus system.

The novelty from the Chinese manufacturer boasts the latest hardware. The specs of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 phablet are truly breathtaking as it is powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 821 processor, assisted by the powerful Adreno 530 graphics chipset. The 64 GB model gets 4 GB of RAM, and with 128 GB of internal memory you get 6 GB RAM. The front panel is covered with durable Corning Gorilla Glass with a 2.5D effect, and under it hides an incredibly clear, bright and contrasting 5.7-inch 2K screen, which also has curved side panels.

Interestingly, this device is equipped not only with a fingerprint sensor, but also with an iris scanner, like on Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Also on the front is an 8-megapixel front camera, and on the back is the main camera with two lenses. The main one received a 23-megapixel sensor from Sony, and the additional one - 12-megapixel. Here, of course, there is quite a good flash.

Despite the rich functionality and excellent hardware platform, the price of Mi Note 2 does not scare away. For a model with 64 GB of internal memory and 4 GB of permanent memory, you will have to pay almost 30 thousand rubles. The cost of competing smartphones reaches 60 thousand rubles, so this is really a good offer. The 128GB storage option will cost a bit more, but you get a lot more in return, including 6GB of RAM. Whatever model you choose, in any case, you get a powerful 4100 mAh battery.
