BATTERY

ACCUMULATOR BATTERY

The battery is not fully charged at the factory, charge it before use. Immediately after purchase or after long-term storage (more than 2 months), the battery cannot be charged to its nominal capacity. Only after two or three charge/discharge cycles will the battery capacity increase to its nominal value.

PRECAUTIONS WHEN HANDLING THE BATTERY

Use only the standard charger and do not charge other types of batteries in it.

1. Do not short-circuit the battery terminals, as this will damage the battery and may cause severe heat and burns. Never disassemble the battery case.

2. The ambient temperature should be between 5-40°C while charging the battery. Outside the temperature range, the battery cannot be fully charged.

3. Do not use the AjetRays AJ-446 radio while the battery is charging. We recommend turning off the power to the radio while charging the battery.

4. Do not plug/unplug the charger adapter and battery while charging to avoid charging program failure.

5. After charging the battery, remove it from the charger. If you unplug the charger from the outlet or lose power, charging will start again and the battery will be recharged.

6. Do not charge the battery if it is already fully charged. This will result in shortened battery life or damage to the battery.

7. Do not damage the battery if it or the radio is wet. Wipe with a dry cloth and let dry.

NOTE: All batteries can cause property damage and/or personal injury such as burns. If conductive materials such as jewelry, keys, or beaded chains touch the outer contacts of the battery. Conductive material may short out electrical diagram(short circuit) and become quite hot. Handle any charged battery carefully, especially when placing it in a pocket, purse, or any container containing metal objects.

CHARGING METHOD
A low battery warning tells you that the battery needs to be charged or replaced. If the battery voltage drops to a certain level, the indicator light starts flashing red. There may also be three beeps every 30 seconds. Please use only the charger that comes with the station to charge the battery. Below is a table with the status of the LED on the charger.

TO CHARGE THE BATTERY, FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

BASIC OPERATIONS

Turn the switch clockwise to turn on the station. Turn the switch counterclockwise to turn off the device.
A beep is heard if this function is activated.

Rotate the Volume Control to adjust the desired volume level.

Rotate the Channel Selector to select the desired channel.
When you receive the corresponding signal, you will hear a sound from the speaker.

Note:
If accumulator battery will run out of power, the radio will stop transmitting and beep.

Communication equipment may have coded squelch or squelch programmed into it. If the selected channel has squelch programmed, you will only hear radio stations in your group. If the selected channel does not have squelch programmed, you will hear all signals transmitted on that channel (not just your group's signals).

Press the PTT button and speak into the microphone to make a request, the LED will turn red.

If this channel is not programmed, a beep sounds and the LED flashes alternately red and orange.

Release the PTT button to receive a signal. If there is a signal, the LED lights up green. And there is sound from the speaker.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

When you can reliably communicate with other operators without using High Output Power, select Low Output Power, this will increase battery life:

You can select the level from 0 ~ 9 (Default: 2). This feature is only available when programming from a computer.

When you turn on the station or when you rotate the channel selector, the radio station notifies you about the number of the selected channel. This feature can be disabled or selected in English by your dealer or distributor. If this feature is disabled, there will be no messages when you turn on the device or rotate the channel selector.

The transmission time limit timer is designed to prevent one user from occupying the channel for too long. If you transmit continuously for more than the set time, the radio will stop transmitting and a beep will sound. To silence the beep, release the PTT button. You can then resume transmission by pressing the PTT button again. The TOT function is programmed from a computer.

The battery saving function reduces current consumption in standby mode (when there is no reception, transmission or button presses). The radio automatically switches to low current consumption mode 5 seconds after stopping reception or the last press of any button.

This feature is designed to alert you that the battery needs to be recharged or replaced. If the battery is low, the indicator light will turn red and a beep will sound when transmitting or receiving. This function is programmed via a computer.

You can use the Monitor button to listen to a weak, intermittent signal that is not audible during normal operation. You can also adjust the sound when there are no signals on the selected channel. Press the Monitor button to listen for weak signals and release it to return to normal mode.

Scanning is a function of searching for a useful signal on all channels. During scanning, the radio checks for the presence of a signal on each channel and stops on the channel that has a signal. The AjetRays AJ-446 radio remains on a busy channel for approximately 5 seconds. The Scan Key function is programmed from a computer to channel 16. If it is programmed and activated, scanning automatically starts when switching to channel 16. The indicator light turns green. To Enable/Disable scanning, with the radio turned off, press and hold the Monitor button, then turn on the radio's power.

Note:

• Press and hold the Monitor button to stop scanning; release the button to continue scanning.
• Scanning can only be used if the radio has at least two channels programmed into it. Also, at least two memory channels must not be blocked from scanning.

This function is programmed from a computer. If there are no tones or DCS programmed on the selected channel, the AjetRays AJ-446 radio will not be able to transmit if it is receiving.

Alarm mode should only be activated in extreme circumstances. Press and hold the Alarm button for 2 seconds to enable this mode. To disable this feature, repeat this procedure.

When this function is activated, you will hear a beep when the battery is low, channel busy (BCL), TOT function or channel without data and so on. This function is only available by programming from a computer.

VOX allows you to transmit without your hands. The transmitter is turned on automatically when the AjetRays AJ-446 device or remote headset begins to speak into the microphone. When working with VOX, it is important to set the VOX gain correctly. If the microphone is too sensitive, the transmitter will turn on even from minor sounds. If the microphone is not sensitive enough, the transmitter will not turn on from voices, but only from loud sounds. Some channels may be programmed with CTCSS or DCS signaling. The CTCSS/DCS tone is a tone that allows signals coded with a different tone or without a tone to be inaudible. On the top panel there are: a light indicator, an SMA-type antenna connector, a 16-position channel switch and a volume control/radio switch knob.

An interesting feature of this model is that the channel number is announced when the radio is turned on or when the channel is changed. Functions and operating modes

The AjetRays AJ-446 radio station has a minimal set of controls, which corresponds more to the professional purpose of the device than to the amateur one. A fairly large set of functions can be programmed from a computer. Moreover, functions will be controlled by changing the channel or by a single function button located under the PTT button.

The function button can be programmed to perform one of the following functions:

Key lock / Key lock and backup . Holding the function button for 1 second will lock/unlock the radio buttons and channel selector. If the button is programmed as "Key lock and backup", the lock will remain in effect until the radio is powered off.

Monitor. After pressing the button and a confirmation sound signal, the Ajetrays AJ-446 radio station will switch to signal reception mode without programmed CTCSS or DCS codes. To start scanning, press the function button. Scanning is performed by searching through channels, starting with the current channel in ascending order of channels. To stop scanning, press the button again.

Priority Scan. If your radio is programmed with a priority channel, the radio will automatically switch to that channel when a signal appears on it, even if the current channel also has a wanted signal. The radio will remain on the priority channel until the signal is lost and after the signal is lost for the programmed delay time. The scan will then resume.

Scan+temporary delete. “Temporarily exclude a channel from scanning”, that is, the ability to temporarily remove a channel from scanning. When scanning is stopped on a channel, the channel can be removed from scanning by pressing the function button.
